The same pages that are reported 'down' can be reached by Ping and can be accessed by other systems. No matter what web page I try to access, the browser displays the page that reports a problem with internet connectivity (internet connection may be down, URL may be mistyped, site may be down). However, both Internet Explorer (version 7) and Mozilla act like the laptop isn't connected to the internet. I can ping web pages from a command window and applications/utilities that use the internet seem to work fine (Windows Update, Mozilla Thunderbird Email, online game updater, etc.).
The laptop seems to have internet connectivity. no software or changes have been made to the system by us, although the automatic updates have installed an update for Vista and an update for Windows Defender. Everything was working until a 2-3 days ago. I have a new problem with web browser connectivity on a HP Pavillion laptop running Vista.
